Student rescued from 125 feet up in the air

NEW BRAUNFELS – Rescue workers responded to an unusual incident in New Braunfels Wednesday night after a high school student climbed up a stadium light pole and refused to come down.

Officials said the student was 125 feet up in the air when they arrived. They had to wait about four hours for a ladder that would reach high enough to bring the student to safety.

After another two hours of negotiations, the 16-year-old student finally came down.

Police said the boy was dehydrated but not seriously hurt. He was taken to a hospital for examination.

The school did not say why the student climbed the light police or if he would face disciplinary action.
