A Texas City High school student accused of bringing a gun on campus Tuesday is under arrest and facing possible criminal charges.
A student came forward Wednesday claiming he saw the student with a gun on campus Tuesday, though it's unclear why that student waited a day to report it to a school liaison officer.
Texas City ISD Superintendent Dr. Cynthia Lusignolo the district immediately launched an investigation and tells Local 2 a gun was recovered Wednesday afternoon at the home of the student accused of bringing it on campus.
Dr. Lusignolo said it matched the description that was given by the student who reported seeing it on campus. District administrators maintain there was no immediate threat to students or staff and a notification alert was sent home to parents.
Officials are not saying how the old the student is, where he allegedly got the gun or to whom the gun belongs. The teen's guardians have been notified.
Dr. Lusignolo says the student's punishment will depend what charges he faces.
