Student falls off roof of school

HOUSTON – Two students are in hot water after they were caught on the roof of their school Wednesday. One of them fell off the building, officials said.

Houston Independent School District officials said they have no idea why the students were on top of Booker T. Washington High School, 119 East 39th Street.

"Police, fire department and EMS responded to the scene and began talking to the students," HISD spokesman Jason Spencer said. "One of the students came down voluntarily. The other student dangled off the side of the roof."

Police said they do not know if the teenager tried to jump or slipped off the ledge of the two-story building. He fell 12 feet to the ground and was rushed to a hospital. His condition was not released.

School officials have not said what punishment, if any, the students will face.
