BAYTOWN, Texas -

The principal at a Goose Creek Consolidated Independent School District elementary school says a student brought a knife to school on Tuesday.  

at Highlands Elementary School, sent a letter home to parents informing them about Tuesday’s incident.

In the letter, Principal Aucompaugh said students reported that another student had brought a knife on campus.

After investigating, the principal said the knife was confiscated.

School officials said the student was disciplined according to the Goose Creek CISD Student Code of Conduct. No specifics for the disciplinary action were given.

“Providing a safe school environment for our students and staff is important to us,” wrote Principal Aucompaugh. “We encourage you to talk with your children about the danger of bringing weapons to school and to urge them to confidentially tell an adult if they suspect that anyone has a weapon on campus.”
