HOUSTON - A warning for parents in Southeast Houston -- police are looking for a man who was able to get an 11-year-old girl into his van. The little girl didn't know him.
Police say he approached the girl while she walked home from school in the 6800 block of Lawndale Street. At first he told the girl it was too hot to be walking. Then he offered to buy her dinner.
She repeatedly said 'no,' but eventually climbed into the front passenger seat of his van. The girl panicked when the man passed her home, but he did turn around and drop her off.
"It's kind of scary," said Veronica Sanchez, her family lives down the street. "You don't feel safe. Even if he didn't harm her, what are his intentions for later?
The man is described as Hispanic and was driving a white Astro van with five spoke chrome rims.
According to the girl's mother, she saw the van at her daughter's bus stop.
Houston police are investigating.
The little girl wasn't hurt and is now home safe.
