Stranger danger: Man takes photos of student

Woodland Hills Elementary sends warning letters to parents

KINGWOOD, Texas – A stranger was seen taking pictures of an elementary school student who was riding a bike home from school.

Woodland Hills Elementary officials said the incident happened on Wilderness Point on Tuesday.

Officials said extra police patrols have since been dispatched to the area. It's an effort Humble Independent School District officials said is to ward off a man that may be targeting students.

According to a letter sent to parents by Principal Deb Castellanos Beard, a man repeatedly took photographs of the student. The student rode home and told a parent.

The man was standing next to a white SUV when he was taking photographs, the letter stated. A detailed description of the man was not released.

School officials reminded parents to encourage their children to walk or ride their bikes home in groups, never talking to strangers and reminding students to report anything unusual to a parent or teacher immediately.

"It's very important for me to inform my children because I would hate to think anything would happen to my kids," parent Corne Oosthuize said.
