HOUSTON – In parts of Houston the rain wasn't just coming down Monday, it was coming down in sheets. The fierce storms were enough to cause headaches for drivers, especially those who did not have the protection of a vehicle.
People near the Museum District found shelter wherever they could -- under bridges, in front of buildings and inside metro shelters.
"Not a good idea to wear sandals," said Marshall Wyrick. "(It's) slippery and just a bad idea."
"I got completely soaked," said Andre Johnson.
At one point nearly a dozen people huddled underneath the Main Street bus shelter waiting for the rain to subside, and with good reason.
"It's blowing in different directions it seems," said Wyrick. "So umbrellas are not going to help."
"It wasn't helping much at first," said Johnson, speaking of the bus shelter. "I had to actually end up standing up here because it was raining and the wind was blowing, so it was still getting us wet."
In addition to the rain and wind, lightning struck fear in those looking for shelter. It was another evening of downpours to navigate in what's been a summer filled with rain.
