HOUSTON -

Severe storms that made their way into the Houston area Monday caused major damage in Liberty County and two women were injured.

Jim Booth and his wife were visiting their daughter who was recovering from a heart and lung condition.

The family was in a trailer when the storm blew through and a tree fell on top of their mobile home.
It happened at the Tarkington Mobile Home Park on F.M. 2518.

Strong winds uprooted trees and snapped power lines, leaving thousands in the dark.

Booth says the family was just about to heat up dinner when large gusts of wind knocked a large oak tree over, injuring his 63-year-old wife and 44-year-old daughter. Right before the tree came crashing down, the daughter started to scream.

“She started screaming because we started getting pounded with, it sounded like somebody was throwing baseballs at our trailer,” said Booth. “Lots and lots and lots of high wind, you know, squealing.”
The mother and daughter were rushed to Kingwood Hospital in stable condition.

“The house is gone. It’s gone, it can’t be fixed,” Dorothy Dean, a friend, said. “They’re blessed to be alive and they say that too.”

The family is uncertain of where they will live now.
