Three people were arrested in connection with car burglaries in The Heights that lead to a high-speed chase.
Detectives said around midnight, officers tried to pull over a stolen red Jetta that had been seen in the area where the burglaries took place.
The driver refused to pull over and sped off.
"It's my understanding they were driving at high speeds and blew through stop signs and red lights," Officer Larry Crowson said.
The chase lasted for abut 15 minutes.
Police told Local 2 they chased the stolen car on 610, T.C. Jester, and Hempstead Road at speeds topping 100 miles per hour.
After going over railroad tracks at high speeds, one of the tires on the car blew out, according to police.
Three suspects were handcuffed, be one managed to get away.
Officers believed the fourth suspect was hiding out in a home near Douglass Street, but it turned out he was not inside.
The three people in custody face several charges, including evading arrest.
Police said there have been a rash of break-ins in the Houston Heights and Independence Heights. They are now working to see how many vehicles can be linked to the thieves.
