Staycation options here in Houston

HOUSTON – Tuesday is National Tourism Day, but you don't have to go far to get in on the action.

The Greater Houston Convention and Visitor's Bureau is touting the staycation this summer. And they're betting there is a lot your hometown has to offer that you've never tried.

Have you ever heard of the Beer Can House? What about the National Museum of Funeral History or the Art Car Museum?

Greg Ortale, President and CEO of the Visitor's Bureau says it's time Houstonians explored their own city staycation-style.

"If they thought about it and some of the neat things there are to do in our community, then they would definitely say 'Hey, why not?'" said Ortale.

Ortale says the Houston CityPASS can help get you started.

For $49, you get free admission to five Houston attractions, a savings of about $50.

You can be one of two people to win a pack of CityPASSes by going to KPRC Local 2 Amy Davis' Facebook page and commenting under the CityPASS post. We'll choose two winners Wednesday morning.

About 9 million people visit Houston every year. Most are family and friends or business folks like those at the OTC show this week.

Why not show some love to your own city and see all that it has to offer?
