HOUSTON -

Ronald Haskell, the man accused of killing six members of his ex-wife's family and injuring a 15-year-old girl, was not present for a scheduled court appearance Monday morning.

Officials said he did not appear before a judge because he was being evaluated.

The last time Haskell was in court, he collapsed to the floor after hearing the capital murder charge and the evidence against him.

His attorney, Doug Durham, has said he will explore an insanity defense.

Police said Stephen Stay, his wife Katie, Bryan, Rebecca, Emily and Thomas were killed July 9th by a man who had previously walked away from a mental health facility.

It's not clear when Haskell walked away.

Haskell is currently on a mental health floor of the Harris County Jail.
