Police say the victim believed he was chatting with a young girl he knew
A Spring ISD music teacher is under investigation after allegedly encouraging a 12-year-old boy to send nude images of himself through Facebook, according to officials.
Investigators conducted an investigation regarding a the operator of a Facebook profile sending nude pictures to the 12-year-old.
The profile was allegedly operated and engineered so the boy believed he was chatting with a young girl that he knew.
Investigators interviewed the young girl and discovered she was being impersonated and that the operator of the Facebook page was Derrick Allan Gossett.
Nude images of young boys were found in Gossett's home.
Gossett confessed to using Facebook to converse with boys.
Officials said he would allegedly send porn to the boys and pass it off as the young girl. He would then encourage the boys to send pictures of them in return.
Gossett has pending charges of one count of online solicitation of a minor, one count of promotion of child pornography, one count of impersonation and three counts of possession of child pornography.
The former music teacher's neighbors are stunned.
"I was looking at the news and I see his picture come up and I was like, wow Derick!?" said Louis Sidney.
"That makes me feel angry, heated and I'm a God fearing man. That's some sick individual thing," said Randolph Wallace.
According to court documents, Gossett posted bond Tuesday evening.
Anyone with information or who believes their child has had online contact with Gossett should call the Harris County Tech Crimes Unit at 281-401-6228.
