SPRING, Texas -

People came together Sunday to bridge the racial divide between African Americans and Latinos in the Spring community.

The issue of race came to light after the deadly stabbing at Spring High School Wednesday.

Investigators say gang violence is to blame. Sunday, organizers held a rally to help bring the communities together.

Deric Muhammad with Millions More Movement was an organizer of Sunday’s event.

“The racial divide, and the perception of such a divide, has not been addressed, and we believe it needs to be addressed before these students come back to school tomorrow”, said Muhammad.

Representatives from LULAC also attended.

“Our kids have to know there is no return from death. You can fix everything else, but death, there is no return,” said Marta Dia.

Students return to Spring High School Monday.
