Speeding driver killed in south Houston crash

HOUSTON – A speeding driver was killed in a crash early Monday morning in south Houston, police said.

Officers said the man was driving a gold Ford Crown Victoria at a high rate of speed around 2:45 a.m. along Almeda Genoa Road when he lost control and hit a curb near Furman Road.

Investigators said the driver, who has not yet been identified, went off the road and into a ditch.

The man was not wearing a seat belt and died at the scene, police said.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
