Councilman Boykins angered by congressman's tweet on President Obama, Hitler

HOUSTON – The Weber/Obama/Hitler tweet controversy was front and center at Houston City Hall Wednesday, striking a nerve with Councilman Dwight Boykins.

"If he wasn't a black president...if he wasn't a black president we wouldn't have these damn problems. I'm getting sick of it!" Boykins said.

Boykins did not mince words during Wednesday afternoon's council session as he unleashed his frustrations over Monday night's controversial tweet from Congressman Randy Weber.

Weber attacked the Obama Administration for not sending a higher level official to take part in Sunday's unity rally in the wake of the Paris terror attacks.  He tweeted "Even Adolph Hitler thought it more important than Obama to get to Paris. (For all the wrong reasons.) Obama couldn't do it for right reasons."

Boykins responding by saying "For folks who have a problem with this president, nine times out of 10 they cannot define what the problem is and I'm getting sick of it."

Weber was apparently referencing Hitler's visit to German occupied Paris in the 1940s.

The congressman issued a statement with an apology Tuesday afternoon after his tweet attracted widespread attention. It said, in part, "It was not my intention to trivialize the Holocaust nor to compare the President to Adolf Hitler. The mention of Hitler was meant to represent the face of evil that still exists in the world today."
