HOUSTON -

Deputies in Montgomery County arrested a man they say killed his parents at their home near Porter.

Just after 10 p.m. Tuesday, 911 dispatchers got a call from a 12-year-old girl. She said her uncle shot her grandparents and then drove off.

When deputies arrived, they found Randal Branstette, 54, dead inside a home in the 1600 block of Oak Knoll in the eastern part of the county. His wife, 58-year-old Cathy Gibbs, was found dead lying in the driveway.

Officials said both victims died of gunshot wounds.

The suspect initially fled the scene, but later returned. Deputies said 24-year-old Joseph Branstette surrendered to authorities.

Once he was questioned by detectives at Montgomery County's Major Crimes Unit, Branstette confessed to the crime. Authorities recovered a handgun inside his vehicle. They believe it was the gun used to commit the murders.

Branstette was booked into the Montgomery County Jail and charged with capital murder of his parents.

Detectives still do not have a motive for these murders.

Deputies said the young girl who called 911 witnessed the crime.
