Smoke shop ordered to stop sale of synthetic marijuana

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – Several officials Wednesday won a restraining order against Texas Tobacco Smoke to stop the sale of synthetic marijuana, which is known on the streets as Kush.

The shop at 5300 Telephone Road was ordered by a judge to immediately cease the sales of any synthetic marijuana.

Officials said during an investigation, an officer purchased 25 bags of Kush and Dro, a hydroponic marijuana, and when officers returned to the store with a search warrant they found drugs in unmarked white bags, which investigators said is a common practice to circumvent law enforcement.

“My office will continue to work with law enforcement, the attorney general’s office and city officials to send the message to store owners these dangerous designer drugs will not be tolerated in Harris County,” County Attorney Vince Ryan said.

The next hearing for the case is scheduled for Jan. 26.
