Smash-and-grab burglary at CVS

HARRIS COUNTY – Authorities are investigating a smash-and-grab burglary at a CVS store in northwest Harris County.

It happened around 2 a.m. Thursday at the store in the 3100 block of W. FM 1960 near Terrace Oaks Drive.

According to the Harris County Sheriff's Office, surveillance video showed three men using their vehicle to bust into the store in an attempt to steal the ATM.

Officials say the men were unsuccessful at taking the ATM, so they took several cartons of cigarettes instead during the few minutes they were inside.

The suspect's vehicle was located in a subdivision behind the store shortly after the burglary.

The sheriff's office said the suspects are not in custody.

A CVS employee spent the morning trying to cleanup the shattered glass and debris.

A door repairman was called in and said he had never seen damage quite like this.

"I've seen some minor ones where they'll bump it (the door), maybe break a panel, but not like this," said repairman Preston Duncan.

This CVS location will be closed throughout the morning until employees can get things cleared up.
