HOUSTON -

Facebook recently launched it’s ‘Nearby Friends’ feature, to tell you when friends are in the same area. But what if you don’t want to run in to anyone?

That’s where Split: The Antisocial App comes in. It sends your smartphone a warning whenever a person from your contacts list gets too close.

Here’s how it works. The program uses GPS technology to track where they are, and alerts you when they’re close. The creator of the app said he came up with it after running into two of his ex-girlfriends on the same night.

The app even tells you which way to go to avoid an unwanted encounter. Split is free to download on both Apple and Android platforms.
