The woman had just opened her front door to go to work when she was hit in the face and knocked back into her living room, detectives said.

Investigators said the man forced the woman into her bedroom at gunpoint. The man ripped the woman's clothes off, sexually assaulted her, hit her in her head with a vase, choked her with an extension cord and beat her, police said.

The man grabbed a kitchen knife and forced the woman to go into a closet, investigators said.

Detectives said the man stole the woman's jewelry before he left the home.

The man was described as black with a dark complexion, 35 to 45 years old, about 6 feet to 6 feet 2 inches tall, about 230 to 250 pounds and clean shaven with short, black hair. He was last seen wearing a black cotton jacket, black jean shorts and red Converse shoes.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
