HOUSTON - Police released a sketch Tuesday of a man wanted in a fatal shooting in the Museum District.
Houston police said David Nguyen, 60, was shot in the 5000 block of La Branch near Wichita about 9:20 p.m. on Dec. 31. He died the next day.
Investigators said Nguyen arrived home and witnessed a robbery inside his gated community. When the robber saw Nguyen, he tried to rob him, too, and shot him, police said.
"Because of what happened on that night, our family has lost a husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and uncle," Nguyen's family wrote in a statement.
Police said Nguyen's killer is black, in his 30s to 40s and about 5 feet 9 inches tall with a stocky, muscular build.
Nguyen's family asked anyone who knows anything about the killing to come forward.
"Your help could provide some much needed justice and prevent another family from enduring this painful and difficult loss."
Anyone with information is asked to call the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
