HOUSTON - If you're thinking of making a major purchase, you may wonder if that price will drop if you wait until later to buy.
According to PC World Magazine, the bigger the TV, the better the deal.
The discounts are steeper on 60-inch and larger models because there are fewer people buying them. If it's a smaller HDTV you're after, you might want to wait a few weeks. That's when retailers will be clearing last year's inventory to make room for newer models.
If you missed the holiday sales on game consoles, you'll want to hold off on buying one. According to PC World, the next round of big discounts for these devices won't likely come around until the summer.
The price for tablets is holding steady. Most manufacturers are already selling them at cost. They make their money selling the movies and music for your tablet. It's safe to buy them now because the prices aren't expected to change much.
Prices remain flat on point-and-shoot cameras, but if you're looking for a high-end DSLR camera, prices are up nearly 14 percent. Experts said buying last year's models might be the only way to save a few bucks.
Prices for storage devices, such as thumb drives and portable hard drives, are down. Experts said now is not a bad time to buy, but they also think prices will continue to drop.
