The shelter-in-place order was for residents living on West College Street and between the 3800 and 3900 blocks of Ruskin Street. That is east of Stella Link Road and north of Bellaire Boulevard.

St. Mark's Episcopal School said students and staff are being kept inside until the order was lifted, which happened about 2:40 p.m.

Officials at the scene told KPRC that a construction crew caused the leak when they hit a gas line.
