HOUSTON -

A Houston shopping center is the focus of a lawsuit filed by Harris County Attorney Vince Ryan.

The county attorney sued the Sharpstown-area shopping center Thursday claiming that it is a haven of criminal activity, including aggravated robberies, assaults, underage prostitution and human trafficking.

The property is located in southwest Houston at 9780 Bissonnet.

In a news release, Ryan said the area is known nationwide as the "track," where young women and their "pimps" and "johns" congregate. The lawsuit names 22 men who were convicted of trying to pick up undercover Houston police officers posing as prostitutes.

The lawsuit asks a judge to order Rhmzyu, LLC, the center's owner, to take steps to reduce the criminal activity occurring on its property.

Ryan also brought up Kenny's Grill and Sports Club and H20 Nightclub, which are located in the center. He said they have been cited for illegally selling alcohol after 2 a.m. and for operating without the required Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission licenses.

"Shopping centers must make reasonable efforts to stop crime on their property," Ryan said. "If they do not our office will act."

Local 2 has called Rhmzyu, LLC for comment on the lawsuit and we are waiting to get a response.
