Several suspected undocumented immigrants arrested after traffic stop in north Houston

HOUSTON – Seven men were arrested Friday in north Houston. Several of the men in custody are believed to be undocumented and in the country illegally.

According to police, officers tried to pull over a white pickup truck with an unreadable temporary license plate around 2 a.m. in the area of Richrest at Imperial Valley. When the driver stopped, several men jumped out of the cab and back of the truck and ran into a wooded area, police said.

Using a K-9 unit and a helicopter, Houston police officers were catch seven men.

Investigators later found that the truck was stolen.

"(After) further investigation we found out the vehicle was stolen, and at this time it looks like it's going to be an immigration issue," HPD officer C. Curry said.

Investigators said no drugs or weapons were found in the truck. 

No charges are expected to be filed. 

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement is investigating the men for immigration violations.
