Several train cars derail along Highway 36, police say

SEALY, Texas – Several train cars derailed Tuesday along Highway 36 in Sealy, police said.

The incident was reported at 10:30 a.m. between 2nd Street and 1094.

Sealy police said a southbound Union Pacific train had derailed. Police said the eight railcars full of rocks had derailed, but remained upright position.

Sealy police said that Highway 36 is currently closed until the scene is clear.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of derailment is under investigation.
