White was serving as interim president of the organization after he was appointed to replace Bryan Sky-Eagle, who resigned from the position in the 11th month of a three-year term.

"This campaign was another step in rebuilding the HPFFA," White said in a press release. "Marty's campaign provided important ideas and energy for the HPFFA. I am grateful for the support of Houston firefighters and will work to maintain their confidence."

The new president, who will serve for about two years, said his agenda would include protecting member wages, benefits and working conditions, rebuilding the HPFFA presence at City Hall and at the State Legislature, resuming contract negotiations with the city, increasing training for the next generation of HPFFA leaders and curbing city abuses of the disciplinary system.
