South Loop reopens after jackknifed semi removed

Slick roads to blame, officials say

HOUSTON – Traffic was flowing on the South Loop again Monday after a jackknifed semi blocked all but one lane of the freeway.

The incident was reported at 12:45 p.m. near Broad Street.

Video of the scene seemed to show that the tractor-trailer jackknifed. Only one lane of traffic was able to get by the scene of the crash.

Officials said they believe the slick roadway caused the crash.

It did not appear any other vehicles were involved in the crash.

Traffic was backed up past the Gulf Freeway.

Just before 2 p.m., officials were able to tow the truck off the freeway.
