Secret Service investigates counterfeit $100 bills used at Houston Walmart

HOUSTON – The Secret Service is investigating after counterfeit $100 bills were used in a couple of transactions at a southeast Houston Walmart.

With its state of the art security features that took nearly 10 years to develop, the newly designed $100 bill is supposed to be harder for counterfeiters to replicate.

However, two unidentified men were caught on surveillance cameras allegedly using fake $100 bills to buy money cards at the money center inside a Walmart near the 9500 block of Rowlett Road.

Local 2 learned that the Secret Service seized $2,100 in counterfeit $100 bills from the store. Walmart has been on alert ever since the Secret Service launched its investigation.

Local 2 has learned that employees are being told that if they ever see the pair in the store again to call police immediately.
