Secrecy surrounds investigation of Spring middle school principal

SPRING, Texas – The Spring Independent School District is releasing few details after a middle school principal was placed on paid administrative leave.

According to district officials, an internal audit triggered the investigation into Twin Creeks Middle School principal Charlie Rooke.

The school sent a letter home to parents Friday stating that Rooke was the target of a Spring ISD police investigation.

"I don't have a comment at this time," Rooke told Local 2's Irika Sergeant when she knocked on the door of his home.

Spring ISD officials would not say what Rooke is accused of doing, but in the letter to parents, the district said, "The results of the investigation and the status of Mr. Rooke will be shared with you after the investigation has been completed."

Rooke's unexpected absence has left parents with many questions.

"It's a scary feeling you know, they're not saying what he's involved in and he's being checked out by the police," said parent Annette Carter. "That's a scary thought."

An interim principal has been named while the investigation continues.
