HOUSTON – In a conference call with supporters Monday, Rick Santorum said money was not the the only reason that he called it quits on the campaign trail.
NBC news reports that during the call, Santorum told supporters "his inability to become the sole conservative alternative in the GOP race and the delegate-rich state of Texas not holding a winner-take-all primary were the main reasons for his exit."

He also said other candidates refusing to get out of the race hurt his campaign.
During the call, Santorum thanked supporters for their loyalty, and willingness to fight with him until the end.
Santorum said lack of funds was, "just a little, very, very, small piece of the story. The bottom line is we wanted to take this race as far as we could to the point where we felt that we could be successful."
Santorum suspended his campaign April 11
He has not said if he will endorse Mitt Romney.
In fact, Santorum has said he has not talked to Romney since dropping out.
Santorum said he did have a conversation with Newt Gingrich, but did not elaborate on the outcome.
In the near future, Santorum said he plans to help conservative republicans running in key House and Senate races.
