Sandra Bland, Trayvon Martin featured on teen's prom dress

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – A teenager in Florida used her prom dress to send a message about the Black Lives Matter movement.

Milan Morris’ prom dress featured images of Trayvon Martin, Sandra Bland, Michael Brown -- and others who have died in recent years -- and became the faces of the Black Lives Matter movement.

Morris, 17, posted her prom photos on Instagram with the message: “Yes. I'm black. Yes, I'm 17. Yes GOD is using me to convey a message that's bigger than me.”

Essence.com reported Terrance Torrence, a West Palm Beach designer, made the dress in four days.

Torrence told Essence.com he wanted to create a dress inspired by Black Lives Matter last year but did it in 2017.

"It was powerful and a movement and I knew people would respond to it," he said.

Morris is a star basketball player at Cardinal Newman High School. She is headed to Boston College this fall.
