After graduating from Oklahoma Baptist University, Ryan covered the Oklahoma City bombing for KSWO-TV in Lawton, Okla. Ryan then moved to NBC affiliate, WAFF-TV, in Huntsville, Ala., to anchor the weekday morning newscasts and to cover NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center.

Ryan's work in Huntsville took him to two space shuttle launches, two hurricanes and on a supersonic flight aboard the Concorde from Paris to New York.

Ryan was born in Duncan, Okla. to a third-generation Texan. He received the Eagle Scout award when he was only 12.

His most embarrassing television moment happened on a day Ryan was sick, but still went to work. His nose would not stop running, even as Ryan read the news during a newscast. The morning meteorologist brought Ryan an industrial-sized roll of tissue to take care of the embarrassing problem.

The Texas, Oklahoma and Alabama Associated Press Broadcasters and the Midsouth Chapter of the National Academy of TV Arts and Sciences have honored Ryan's reporting. The Lone Star Chapter of the National Television Academy honored Ryan with an Emmy for outstanding reporting.

The thing Ryan likes most about his job is telling compelling stories that make a difference.

When Ryan is not at work, you will find him running and cycling in Memorial Park.
