Roof ripped off 18-wheeler after getting stuck under bridge near downtown

HOUSTON – The roof of an 18-wheeler was ripped off after getting stuck underneath a bridge near downtown Houston, officials said.

The 18-wheeler was driving on North Main Street near Brooks Street at 11:55 a.m. when the roof of the vehicle was ripped off by the 12 feet 9 inch Alfred Hernandez Bridge. 

Authorities closed the west bound lanes of North Main, while crews inspected the damage.

The 18-wheeler was carrying wood pallets.
