Rockets trade Donatas Motiejunas, Marcus Thornton to Detroit Pistons

Team acquires first round pick from Pistons

As expected the Houston Rockets have made a trade on the day of the trade deadline. Although it may not be the trade of most people were expecting.

According to Yahoo sports, the Rockets have traded forward Donatas Motiejunas and guard Marcus Thornton to the Detroit Pistons for center Joel Anthony and a protected first-round pick.

Motiejunas has been hurt the majority of the season having missed 41 of the Rockets 55 game this season, as he recovered from back surgery.

Motiejunas averaged 12 points and 5.9 rebounds for the Rockets in what was considered a breakout season last year.

He had career averages of eight point and for rebound during his 3+ seasons with the Rockets.

Thornton was in his first season with Houston and averaged 10 points per game in 47 contests.

Anthony, 33, played in just 13 games for the Pistons this season.

The first round selection is reportedly top eight protected. The Pistons are currently 27-27, which would give them the 14th selection in the 2016 draft.
