Robbery, stabbing suspect caught on video

HOUSTON – Houston police hope surveillance video of a man being robbed and stabbed in downtown Houston will help catch the suspect.

Police said the 47-year-old victim was waiting for a METRO bus when a car drove up, the passenger got out and forced him inside the vehicle at 6:30 a.m. on Oct. 10.

He was taken to a known drug house where the suspects bought cocaine and then he was driven to a Wells Fargo ATM in the 2700 block of Smith Street where the victim was told to take out cash, officials said. When the man refused, the suspect stabbed him multiple times, according to investigators, and stole his wallet.

"The victim attempted to put his Kroger's frequent buyers card in, making it appear as if he was using his ATM and the suspect was made aware and a struggle happened," officer Dustin Crowder with the Houston Police Department.

After he was stabbed, the victim managed to drag himself into the middle of the street, where he was discovered by Houston Police Officer Dustin Crowder.

"I was on my way to work and I saw this person. I thought he was sleeping in the street. I saw blood all over the place and called HFD. They thought he was going to die," Crowder said. "Aside from being stabbed, he was emotionally distraught over it. He was expected to die, but pulled through."

The robber and the driver escaped in a four-door, 90s model sedan, possibly a gold Mercury Marquis.

The suspects are only described as two black males. One was described as approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall, 20 to 30 years of age and weighing about 150 to 160 pounds. This suspect is depicted in the surveillance video to the left of the victim.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
