HOUSTON -

Robbers tied up and attacked three men in a home invasion Friday in northeast Houston. It happened inside a gated community on Gregg Street.

The victim said he saw someone checking his water meter, wearing a hard hat, an orange work vest, work clothes and boots as he walked his dog Friday about 9:30 a.m.

Mike Gonzalez said as he tried to close his door, the man, and another, ran up the stairs and into his home.

"I pressed that guy against the wall, he reaches down for a gun. The first thing I do, I don't even think about anything. I just go for his gun," said Gonzalez. "When I did that, I heard the next guy lock his gun and he points it at me. I freeze."

Gonzalez said the two men handcuffed him and a friend, duct taped another friend and ransacked the house looking for anything of value.

"They did hit me over the head with a hammer. I was doing home improvements upstairs and left some things laying out and the first thing he did see is a hammer," Gonzalez said. "Clocks me over the head and threatens to beat out my teeth and break my fingers."

Gonzalez said the men were inside his home for about an hour.

"If somebody breaches your door before you are able to close it and lock it, you're in trouble," said Gonzalez. "It's really tough to defend against this kind of thing."
