HOUSTON -

Masked men rushed into a convenience store and then opened fire when forced to leave empty-handed, according to police.

The incident happened at around 11 p.m. Friday near Homestead and Hamill roads in northeast Houston.

According to the Houston Police Department, three masked men rushed into the store and pointed guns at the clerk.

They demanded money, but the clerk was behind a bulletproof cage and would not come out.

Police say the three crooks realized they were not getting any cash and left the store angry.

As they were leaving, they shot a customer who was standing in the parking lot.

The victim was shot once in the leg and taken to the hospital in stable condition.
