A Richmond couple has been arrested, accused of Medicare fraud.
Stella Maduka, 49, and her husband Felix Maduka, 54, were arrested on Tuesday for their alleged roles in a Medicare fraud and a conspiracy to structure bank withdrawals.
According to court documents, Stella Maduka used a Texas-based billing service to bill Medicare for home health services that were never provided and not medically necessary.
Investigators said she also created phony medical records to perpetrate the healthcare fraud.
In addition, investigators said the Maduka's structured more than $100,000 in cash withdrawals from the bank accounts where they received Medicare payments to avoid detection by the federal government.
Stella Maduk is charged with one count of health care fraud, structuring withdrawals, and making false statements, among other charges.
Felix Maduka is charged with conspiracy and structuring bank withdrawals.
Investigators said Felix Maduk served as the owner, while his wife served as the director of nursing.
