Reward raised in search for most wanted fugitive

Freddie Alaniz, 36, on the run since 2006, officials say

AUSTIN, Texas – The Texas Department of Public Safety said Monday the reward for Freddie Alaniz, 36, a Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitive, has been raised to $12,500 for information leading to his arrest should the tip come during the month of January.

Alaniz was arrested in San Antonio in 2006 for aggravated assault for allegedly stabbing a man during a fight, but he made bail, fled and has been on the run ever since.

Officials said the victim in the stabbing died as a result of his injuries, resulting in a murder charge. Alaniz also has a warrant for his arrest in a case stemming from a sexual assault of a child in February 2006.

Officials said Alaniz's criminal history also includes assault causing bodily injury, resisting arrest and driving while intoxicated.

Alaniz is described as between 5 feet 3 inches and 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighing 120-150 pounds. The image above  left is a digitally aged progression photo of what he is believed to look like today.

Alaniz has a tattoo of a dot on his left hand and a scar on his right eyebrow. He has also had a broken nose and was known to wear prescription glasses.
