He said a man walking on Lasbury Drive had been shot.

The gunshot victim told Fort Bend County sheriff's deputies that he saw two men running down the street.

He said an SUV pulled up next to him at near the intersection with Taloncrest Drive, and the driver shot him.

The victim also gave a description of the driver and passenger in the SUV.

Investigators said the descriptions matched those of two men seen on video burglarizing a house on Chamomile Court.

The victim was taken by Life Flight to Memorial Hermann Hospital.

Investigators believe that a second vehicle was involved in the crime.

The second vehicle was described as a white four-door car used as a lookout for the burglars.

“In most burglary cases, the crooks usually don’t carry weapons, but this case was an exception,” said Sheriff Troy E. Nehls. “The victim found himself in the middle of a crime, a situation he could not have expected. We need the public’s help in catching these thugs.

Anyone who has information on the crime is asked to call Fort Bend County Crime Stoppers at 281-342-TIPS or submit a tip online.

Tipsters may be eligible for a cash reward up to $5,000 for tips that lead to an arrest and charges.
