Reward in construction worker's 2015 slaying increased to $50,000

HOUSTON – It's been almost two years to the day since 19-year-old Frank Medrano was shot and killed in the Greenspoint area.

On Tuesday, members of his family announced they have increased the reward themselves, hoping to find out who did it.

In video from a business' surveillance camera, you can see the suspected shooter jumping a fence in front of the business and eventually runs past it.

Police say this happened right after he shot and killed Medrano.

Medrano was working on a new home under construction in the Greenspoint area when he was approached by the shooter and killed.

Police say it appeared to be an attempted robbery.

But now, two years later, the family still wants justice and has raised the money themselves to increase the reward for information leading to an arrest from $30,000 to $50,000.

They say the loss of their loved one has left a hole in their lives and they won't rest until they have closure.

"We want to do something, hit this news hard, because obviously this is haunting us, knowing that somebody is out there, and it shouldn't be this easy to get away with murder," Frank's brother Eric Medrano said.

Police have released a sketch of what witnesses say the shooter looked like. He was last seen jumping that fence in the Oakridge Apartment Homes area.

If you have any information about this crime, you're asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
