HOUSTON - Investigators have increased a reward for information leading to the arrest of a repeat sex offender who ran away from a northeast Harris County transitional treatment center.
The reward was $3,000 but it is now $13,000.
Texas Department of Public Safety officials said John Michael Enard, 58, removed his GPS tracking device and climbed over a fence at the Southeast Texas Transitional Treatment Center, 10950 Beaumont Highway, about 1:30 a.m. on Jan. 19.
Enard was paroled on Dec. 11 from a 75-year prison sentence he received in 1986 for aggravated kidnapping and aggravated sexual assault. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison in 1982 after being convicted of burglary with intent to rape and three counts of sexual assault.
State officials said Enard has stated that he will re-offend before he goes back to prison.
Warrants on charges of failure to comply with civil commitment requirements and parole violation have been issued for Enard's arrest.
Enard is black, 6 feet tall and 155 pounds.
Officials said he has relatives in Houston and Lafayette, La.
Anyone with information regarding Enard's whereabouts is asked to call Texas Crime Stoppers at 800-252-TIPS. A $3,000 reward has been offered for information leading to his capture.
