Restaurant Report Card: Raw chicken thaws out in bucket

HOUSTON – When you hear about a bucket of chicken, your thoughts may turn to Colonel Sanders, but that is not the kind of chicken bucket KPRC 2 News featured in this week's Restaurant Report Card.

Inspectors reprimanded employees at Cuchara restaurant in the 200 block of Fairview when they saw raw chicken thawing in a bucket on the floor under a dirty dish counter.

Meanwhile, the folks who made a bucket of chicken famous, KFC at Gulfgate Mall, had raw chicken holding at room temperature.

There were major temperature issues at the Sam's Boat in the 5700 block of Richmond. Inspectors condemned chicken, beef, fish and almost everything in the restaurant's cooler because it was too warm and "not in sound condition."

The beef at Cafe 121 Chinese Restaurant in the 5700 block of Westheimer was condemned because it was a warm 63 degrees.

Inspectors said they did not appreciate the rodent droppings and dead roaches they found at Las Locas Fajitas in the 2900 block of Bingle.

However, we've got A-pluses this week for Morton's in the 5000 of Westheimer and the Kolache Factory in the 800 block of Highway 6 South.
