Restaurant Report Card: Slime, roaches found in checkup of inspection violator

HOUSTON – If the place looks familiar, it's because it should.

We’re back again at the Lucky House on Hammerly where just two weeks ago health inspectors hammered the place after finding both black slime and roaches inside their ice machine.

Inspectors went back this week to see if conditions were cleaner.

This time they found dead roaches near the dishwasher and chicken, beef, and shrimp all being stored off temperature, meaning unsafe to eat.

Roaches were also an issue this week at a Midtown hot spot where inspectors found a live one crawling on the kitchen floor inside of Fuzzy’s Taco Shop on West Gray.

And this week, we pay a visit to Bananas Restaurante where inspectors found a big problem in the kitchen in the form of liquid sewage.

At Sukhothai Bistro in the 5700 block of Westheimer, inspectors condemned pork, chicken, and beef that wasn’t safe for human consumption.

We have your weekly dose of slime!

This week inspectors found it on the soda nozzles at Sushi Miyuki in Meyerland Plaza.

They also spotted an employee using his bare hands on spring rolls, the rolls were thrown out!

And finally this week: More dangerous food.

Thirty-five pounds of chicken and beef brisket were deemed not safe for human consumption at the Irish Cowboy on Louisiana. All of it was condemned!

If you and your family visited any of the 272 restaurants participating in this year’s record breaking Houston Restaurant Weeks Fundraiser, congratulations!

You have helped pump hundreds of thousands of dollars into the nation’s largest food bank, The Houston Food Bank.

Final numbers will be in soon, and all of your generosity makes me say BA, BA, BAH, BOO-YAH!
