Restaurant Report Card: Roaches, black & pink slime found at local eateries

HOUSTON – It’s time to uncork another edition of the Restaurant Report Card, where we run down the list of violations at local restaurants.

We begin with Thai Max, located at the Baybrook Mall.

Here, health inspectors found live roaches crawling under the front counter and dead roaches on the kitchen floor.

They also found a combination of black and pink slime in the ice machine.

That machine had to be quarantined.

Up next, more creepy, crawly, cockroaches found, this time at Frenchy’s Chicken on Cullen.

Here, inspectors found roaches in the food prep area.

They also noted dead and trapped insects hanging on a glue catcher trap.

At Quan Di Tu at 8200 Wilcrest, inspectors observed a kitchen worker handling ready-to-eat fish barehanded, and that is against the rules.

They also found an employee eating food in the food prep area.

That should only happen in the break room.

Moving on to Classic Kitchen at 9888 Bellaire.

This Asian restaurant known for its delectable noodle dishes is in trouble this week.

The health department found a live mouse in the dry storage area and several dead mice on the floor in the water heater room.

At Golden Star, located on West Tidwell, health inspectors were finding more insects.

They found dead cockroaches on the floor along the cook line.

And how much do you love fried fish?

At the Blodgett Fish Market, they make it crispy and delicious, and this week they have cooked up a perfect inspection report.

That earns the eatery our prestigious A-Plus rating.

Way to go, and congratulations to all the workers at Blodgett Fish Market.
