HOUSTON -

A small plane has crashed at an airport hangar in Waller County.

It happened shortly before 11am Monday at the Sports Flyer Airport off FM 362 and Wind Sock, which is near Brookshire.

The Waller Co. Sheriff's Office says the pilot lost control of the plane and slammed into a hangar. No one else was on board.

LifeFlight transported the pilot to Memorial Hermann Texas Trauma Institute in serious condition. Officials said he also broke his ankle.

From Sky 2 aerials, the plane could be seen smashed nose-first into a hangar at the airport.

DPS is investigating and has asked the FAA for assistance.
