New renderings of Alamo Master Plan show glass enclosure, rooftop garden

More green space, walking areas proposed for Alamo Plaza

SAN ANTONIO – Renderings of the Alamo Master Plan were revealed at a meeting Tuesday night.

More green space, walking areas and places for people to enjoy food under the trees are among the proposed changes.

The Alamo redevelopment plan also includes a glass enclosure, which is sort of like a walkway, between Houston Street and the historic La Plaza.

There are also plans for a museum and rooftop garden.

Alamo Street will become the Alamo promenade, which will allow visitors to approach the Alamo along the original north-south path that connected the five missions.

Anyone interested in learning more about the project can attend a public meeting on April 18 at 6 p.m. in the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center.
