Remaining Black-eyed Pea restaurants in Texas close

HOUSTON – If you're craving for some food at Black-eyed Pea, too bad. Twelve of the remaining restaurants in Texas have abruptly closed.

According to reports, the chain, known for its southern comfort food, filed for bankruptcy protection last December.

A sign on the door of the Black-eyed Pea restaurant on Bellaire read: "We are temporarily closed. We will let you know when we are able to re-open."

According to KXAS, at least two Black-eyed Pea restaurants in North Texas have temporarily closed as well, and the restaurant's Facebook page was also unavailable as of Wednesday morning.

Former Houston Astros pitcher Nolan Ryan partnered with Black-eyed Pea with the restaurant serving Ryan's all-natural ground beef. Ryan's photo is displayed on the homepage of the restaurant's website with the headline, "Nolan Ryan & the Black-eyed Pea. Two great Texas traditions in one place."

The listing on the restaurant's website shows other locations in Humble, Missouri City and The Woodlands.
