WEST, TEXAS – The people at West EMS lost their building, equipment and co-workers in the deadly fertilizer plant explosion last April.
Now, crews are working to recover from the tragedy as they rebuild their EMS building.

Their new building will be the same size as the old one, but there will be some changes, including bigger sleeping quarters, a new day room and a memorial to those lost in the blast.
Insurance is covering the construction costs and a small portion of the cost for furniture, appliances and other equipment.
"Been through a lot of ups and downs with some of the hurricanes and some of the natural disasters, and then April 17th brought us even closer," said Tom Marek, West EMS director of operations. "It's the first time we've ever lost anybody."
Officials are hoping to complete the work by November 16.
A fundraiser and open house are planned for that day to raise money to help refurnish the building.
